East Farm Shop, Tea Rooms and Campsite

 History

East Farm has been farmed by the Tory Family for three generations. Originally a Tradition mixed farm, with sheep, cow's and crops. The Farm was known country wide for it's sucessful flock of Dorset Down sheep, with rams being sold up and down the country. In the 1980's the farm was stream lined and the focus was on producing milk, The dairy was the main part of the farm until recent years. Due to a number of factors, the Farm like many businesses, needed to use its resources and move in a new direction.

In 2005 the Tea Rooms were started offering homemade scones and fresh local cream, in the surroundings of the Old orginal farm yard.

In 2007 the Farm Shop was opened, starting off in a humble portacabin. In 2008 the Farm Shop moved into what was the old cart sheds, which were used for rearing calves.

In 2014 we installed a 30kw photovoltatic solar panel system, which at its peak can generate 150 - 170 kw/day, thats enough to boil over 1250 kettles per day, the electric was used to power the milking dairy, it's now used to power the Farm Shop.

In 2015 the Campsite was opened, offering Electric and Non Electric pitiches for Camping & Caravan Club members, in 2018 a new shower block was built.

Unfortunately in 2016 the number of cows we were milking was reduced dramatically, but this lead to the re introduction of Sheep at East Farm for the first time in over 30 years. With a flock of 50 Ewes, In 2018 the last of the Dairy cows were sold.

We have also diversified into hosting a rumber of events, from Motor bike rallys, VW music festivals and Running Events which we are great fun.

Today

We have built the flock up and now have 250 breeding Ewes (Lamb is available to buy, please contact us for prices and availability)
